Cantonese Chinese Input Methods
The method of inputting Cantonese Chinese started to take shape. Anyone like to type a character (letter in English) in Cantonese or Chinese through the cantonese syllables can use my system. You have to know how to speak cantonese in a first place. But if you do not know how, you can check the proper syllables for each chinese character in cantonese. You will learn how to speak properly. The meaning of each character is linked to wiki-dictionary.
Let’s start from the first screenshot when you access my site:
The center table displayed is based on the mouseover of the consonant of the characters listed on the left column. There are only 20 of them, namely the b, p, m, f, … corresponding to the baa, paa, maa, faa,… etc.
After the location of the proper consonant, choose from the center table the vowel associated to this consonant. The vowels along the diagonal are the principle vowels which can have the ending aspiration, not necessary all of those m, n, ng, p, k, t, depending on the vowels. The compound vowels do not have ending aspiration. The vowels are positioned so that they can be distinguished very easily. Mouseover the principle vowels will pop up the vowels with ending and allow you to continue the search. Once you locate the proper syllable, you are ready to select the character with proper tone as show next:
After choosing the character, the chosen character will be entered into the rightmost box, one after another:
You can also choose the numbers and punctuation marks in Chinese through the bottom buttons:
